When Carter Blankenship agreed to have a battery-operated device implanted in his chest, he had no idea he would be making medical history.
With one complicated heart surgery under his belt, Blankenship felt like he didn’t have much of a choice, considering his doctors said he was too weak and, at 71, too old for a heart transplant.
